Hospital and clinic flooring
From an architectural perspective, medical facilities are complex structures where specific functional areas must coexist and be resilient to massive use. Hospital flooring must therefore perform its functions very well.

There are a few clear guidelines for the flooring used in hospitals and outpatient facilities:
- Entrances and hallways are walked through a great deal, which means the flooring must be resistant to wear.
- At the same time, it must help dampen the sound of footsteps as much as possible.
- Waiting rooms and family rooms need to be comforting and intimate environments.
- Operating rooms must have maximum hygiene.
- Operating rooms must also be easy to clean quickly.
- Hospital bedrooms are subject to indentation by the furnishings.

PROPERTIES OF ARTIGO HOSPITAL FLOORING
Any open seams in flooring can become hotspots for bacteria: Artigo rubber flooring for hospitals doesn’t open at the seams, since no plasticisers are used and the flooring doesn’t shrink over time.
The surface of Artigo hospital flooring is not porous. It can be sealed at the seams and therefore does not offer spaces for bacteria to multiply. Reducing the sound of footsteps is crucial in areas where patients’ well-being is a necessity.
THE CHALLENGE OF INDENTATION
Indentation is one of the main challenges for hospital flooring. Furnishings such as beds, closets and appliances remain in place for extended periods of time, putting constant pressure on the flooring.
In this setting, our 2 mm-thick rubber flooring for hospitals and outpatient facilities has performed exceptionally well thanks to the elastic return of the material.
